Start your day right with this simple and delicious overnight oats recipe from Tess Prince at Love Food Ibiza. Better still, you can rustle it up in less than two minutes the night before.
Cinnamon adds a warming touch of flavour to the oats. This spice has long been used to treat menstrual pain and infertility too. Studies suggest that cinnamaldehyde - the component of cinnamon that gives the spice its colour and flavour - induces progesterone production, a key hormone needed for the menstrual cycle and the maintenance of pregnancy.
For overnight oats that are all your own, experiment with toppings to give different layers of texture and flavour. Tess especially recommends cacao and hemp.
Overnight oats recipe
200g organic porridge oats
1 tablespoon chia seeds
2 teaspoons maca powder
2 tablespoons desiccated coconut
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
500ml non-dairy milk (e.g. organic soya)
Greek yogurt or kefir
Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl and stir in the non-dairy milk. Pop into the fridge overnight. If you want extra creaminess, mix Greek yogurt. For a gut-friendly twist add some kefir.
Top with any beautiful topping of your choice.
